Mini Garden Update

Hey hey there! I decided I couldn't wait until the end of the month to show you what's going on in my garden - so instead of taking pictures of all of the plants - I took one of everything I harvested this morning! :)

 And of my helper - of course. :)

Looks like I know what I'm doing this morning....what about you?

First Harvest of the 2013!

YAHOO!!!

The vegetable are starting to come in!  Yesterday, Te-Man and I picked the first radish of the year!  I am so blessed that I get to share this amazing time with my kids and teach them about gardening and how exciting it is to pick your dinner from your yard! :)

I had him help me pull it, wash it.....

He wasn't so sure at first....

But we sat down and I took a bite and then he said "Eat it?" and got after it. :)

He even went back for more - I bet he ate 2/3 of it.

Then yesterday afternoon we were up in my bedroom making my bed after I'd washed the sheets and he looked out the window and pointed to the garden and said, "Plants.....eat it?".  :)  YAY!

I know I owe you all pictures of the garden - it just seems like I always have something to do instead and when I finally get around to it, it's too late in the day and the shadows make the lighting terrible.

Will try this afternoon!

A Day in the Life of Te-Man

I was feeling very picture happy yesterday and I thought I should share a little of yesterday's fun here at the Hive.  It was rainy and gross, as it has been for DAYS.  What's today's forecast you ask?  Rain, 100% chance.  Yippee! :)

Seriously though, here's some of the fun we had yesterday.

During our morning walk, we did a little singing in the rain

Then after lunch, Te-Man took a glow bath

Followed not long after by a nap with his snuggle buddy, Mr. Frog (SuperMan actually gave me that frog in 5th grade!)

We rounded out the evening with a lively rendition of "I Wear My Sunglasses at Night", which Te-Man rocked.

I obviously didn't capture everything, but did get a few of the highlights.  I sure do love that little dude. :) 

Ft. Jackson Visit Pics

I got up at my normal time so that I could get things started for the day.  Any time I sleep in, I wake up and have insta guilt and I am completely irritated at myself for being so lazy and putting myself behind schedule for the day.  And I have now been up for almost 2 hours and all I have done is attempt to put on lipstick, hated it, and wiped it off....painted my toenails, fed/watered the dog, and started coffee, oh and I ate a handful of dehydrated apples.  :)

I did not get breakfast started, I did not start on the 3 million loads of laundry, I did not sew, I did not unload the dishwasher, I do not have a witty post to type today.....well, you get the idea.  I just sat here and waited for this....

and it was kinda nice.

I don't want you to feel cheated for stopping by and reading such a boring post, so here's a pic or two of the Te-Man from our Ft. Jackson visit yesterday.   We had a blast exploring out at the lake!  There is no place that little man is happier than outside! :)

We also stocked up on clearance Halloween stuff while we were there.  We should be all set for wigs, haha!   :)

Pumpkins and Patron....

FINALLY!  Yesterday we got around to carving some pumpkins. :)

I would like to pose the question of why on earth I am the one that has to scoop out the insides of these poor  squash?  Why then am I also the one to sift through the orange stringy brain mess to find the precious little kernels of tastiness?  AND then I am also the one to cook them?  But I digress.....

So, Ze-Ra had quite the accomplishment yesterday....it was the first time she carved her entire pumpkin by herself!!!  I was so proud of her - she didn't get upset or frustrated once!  YAY for patience!*

Wolverine took charge of carving the Te-Man's pumpkin )while I made us some pineapple juice and patron with orange slices- YUM).

I'm not sure if it was intentional, but Te-Man's favorite (out of the three he has seen) movie is Finding Nemo.  Doesn't the pumpkin look like the Marlin face the moonfish form?

Great Job Wolverine and Ze-Ra!

I'm trying something new with the pumpkin seeds - they are in the oven right now!  I'll post the results in a bit.  I need to get a pot of applesauce cooking first.

*Just for giggles, whenever Ze-Ra is being a little bit low on calm and patience, I always tell her that I have a pocket full of patience and she is welcome to have some.....she never takes me up on my offer.  I guess I should start using some of it myself. :P

Te-Man Is Down but Not Out!

So the plan today was to start the day with a quick trip to Te-Man's Dr to nip this cough in the bud and then a quick trip to Sam's (if there is such a thing), followed by a day in the kitchen with my side-kick helping me make jellies and even some beet cookies!

Turns out the day had other plans!  The quick trip to the Dr turned into a 2 hour appointment followed by a chest X-ray (Te-Man did AMAZING!!) and then almost World War III with the pharmacy over their incompetency to submit medication for patients with Tricare.  Once I finally made it home with 3 prescriptions in hand, Te-Man and I spent the day watching movies and napping (him, not me).  He is a much bigger fan of Finding Nemo than of Horton hears a Who (as am I).  Once Ze-ra made it home from school, she joined the movie watching dog pile.

Thankfully, the X-ray was clear, but the Dr wants to add a 4th prescription to the ammo pile.  My amazing Wolverine has agreed to pick it up on his way home so as to not interrupt the cinema experience we have going on here. :)

Does anyone else fight the intense urge to explain yourself to the pizza delivery guy? haha
